Track offers simulcast, live dog and horse racing

T he thrill and excitement of pari-mutuel greyhound racing can be enjoyed just

minutes from Port

Aransas.

The Corpus Christi Dog Track is a year-round facility featuring matinee and evening races.

Live greyhound races, Wednesday through Sunday, are mixed with live simulcast greyhound and horse races broadcast via satellite starting at 11 a.m. daily.

Track management strongly recommends calling (361) 289- 9333 ahead to check the schedule that can be altered by weather conditions.

The track offers several choices of grandstand seating, all air-conditioned and all priced at $1. Clubhouse admission is $2. Senior citizens are admitted to the general admission seating for matinees for free. Children under 12 are admitted free with an adult. All members of the military are admitted free for matinees and evenings. General parking is free.

To get close to the greyhounds, the paddock is easily accessible from the Clubhouse. Each dining room table in the Clubhouse is equipped with its own tabletop TV. A buffet dinner is served Friday and Saturday evenings.

Stadium seats are available, at no additional charge, near the 5/16ths starting box. The Race Book offers 72 choice seats with tabletop TVs.

Table seating is available close to the finish line. The track features a food court and several lounges where races can be seen on big screen TV.

An all-youcan eat buffet for $9.95 is served Fridays and Saturdays starting at 6:30 p.m.

Group rates are available for groups of 20 persons to 500.

The track is at IH 37 and Navigation Boulevard. The main entrance to the track is off Leopard Street. From Port Aransas, the shortest route to the track is across the ferry, through Aransas Pass and Portland to Corpus Christi. After crossing the Corpus Christi harbor bridge, veer right to IH-37, then exit on Navigation Boulevard. Turn right on to Leopard Street. The track will be on the right at 5302 Leopard.
