Stop by Tourist Bureau for visitor information
     The people in the know about Port Aransas are the staff members at the Chamber of Commerce-Tourist Bureau. The bureau is located at 403 W. Cotter, about a block east of the ferry landing in the sunny yellow building trimmed in white. Office hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. The office is closed on Sunday.

USS Lex a floating museum
     The USS Lexington Museum on the Bay is a preserved World War II aircraft carrier that gives visitors first-hand looks at life aboard a city at sea. Despite repeated attacks during World War II, the Lex never sank, prompting Japanese propagandist Tokyo Rose to dub the aircraft carrier "The Blue Ghost.

Waterfront park offers fun for all
     Roberts Point Park was built as a joint effort between civic volunteers and the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. Volunteers supplied much of the work; TPWD supplied major funding.

Pool is pride of community park
     Anyone who thinks the beach is Port Aransas' only water feature hasn't visited the swimming pool in Port Aransas Community Park. Of course, the Gulf of Mexico is open 24 hours a day. But the pool offers lounge chairs and benches, shade, showers, lockers, and poolside cubbyholes where you can keep your towel and shoes safe.

Fins, feathers more at Texas State Aquarium
     Shows with trained hawks, owls and falcons are the newest attractions at the Texas State Aquarium in Corpus Christi. The shows take place at the Hawn Wild Flight Theater - a new 300-seat open-air amphitheater that opened at the Texas State Aquarium in April.
