Getting Around

BY WATER

Ferryboats run 24 hours a day, seven days a week all year long crossing the Corpus Christi Ship Channel to and from Port Aransas and Harbor Island.

Jetty Boat transports fishermen and beachcombers to St. Joseph's Island from Fisherman's Wharf, $12 adults. $6 children under 12. 900 N. Tarpon St., 749-5448.

BY LAND

A trolley makes a 60-minute circular route from the Gulf Waters RV Resort on the south side of town through Roberts Point Park on the north end of town including the University of Texas Marine Science Institute, the south jetty, Horace Caldwell Pier and the Leonabelle Turnbull Birding Center. Riders may flag down the trolley anywhere along the route, which is marked by colorful signs. The Regional Transportation Authority charges a 25-cent fare for the trolley. Maps are available at the Chamber of Commerce-Tourist Bureau and City Hall. Daily service 9:52 a.m.- 5:55 p.m.

Flexi-B, operated by the City of Port Aransas in conjunction with the Regional Transportation Authority, provides medical, shopping and sightseeing trips to Corpus Christi. Call city hall, 749-4111 for route information.

Gulf Coast Taxi, 749-0850. Offers 24-hour service in town and to airport; grocery, medication deliveries.

Super Cab Taxi Service, 749- 5858, will deliver folks and food from local establishments 24 hours a day.

Cars & Carts, 325 E. Ave. G, 749- 1655. Street legal beach buggies with large sand tires and lifts.

Kawasaki Mules, 134 N. Alister, (361) 332-1965. Street legal diesel Kawasaki buggies for rent.

Nautical Wheelers, 428 S. Alister, 749-3003. Rent electric beach buggies or bicycles by the day or by the hour.

BY AIR

Mustang Beach Airport, across SH 361 from Beach Access Road 1A. Unmanned 3,500-x75-foot lighted airstrip under jurisdiction of the City of Port Aransas. Self-service fuel available. Automated Weather Observation Service (AWOS), call 749-0537.

International Airport, Corpus Christi. Rent a car or take a taxi or airport limousine to Port Aransas. About a 40-minute ride from the airport to Port Aransas.
