Getting Around

BY WATER

Ferryboats run 24 hours a day, seven days a week all year long crossing the Corpus Christi Ship Channel to and from Port Aransas and Harbor Island.

BY LAND

A trolley makes a 60-minute circular route from the Gulf Waters RV Resort on the south side of town through Roberts Point Park on the north end of town including the University of Texas Marine Science Institute, the south jetty, Horace Caldwell Pier and the Leonabelle Turnbull Birding Center. Riders may flag down the trolley anywhere along the route, which is marked by colorful signs. The Regional Transportation Authority now charges a 25-cent fare for the trolley, which was once free. Maps are available at the Chamber of Commerce-Tourist Bureau and City Hall. Daily service 9:52 a.m.- 5:55 p.m.

Flexi-B, operated by the City of Port Aransas in conjunction with the Regional Transportation Authority, provides medical, shopping and sightseeing trips. Call City Hall, 749-4111 for route information.

Gulf Coast Taxi, 749-0850, will deliver folks to and from local establishments 24 hours a day.

Super Cab Taxi Service, 749- 5858, will deliver folks and food from local establishments 24 hours a day.

RENTALS

Cars & Carts, 325 E. Ave. G, 749- 1655. Street legal beach buggies with large sand tires and lifts.

Kawasaki Mules, 134 N. Alister, (361) 332-1965. Street legal diesel Kawasaki buggies for rent.

Nautical Wheelers, 428 S. Alister, 749-3003. Rent electric beach buggies or bicycles by the day or by the hour.

BY AIR

Mustang Beach Airport, across SH 361 from Beach Access Road 1A. Unmanned 3,500-x75-foot lighted airstrip under jurisdiction of the City of Port Aransas. Self-service fuel available. Automated Weather Observation Service (AWOS) in operation, call 749-0537.

International Airport, in Corpus Christi. Visitors to Port Aransas arriving via commercial airline may get to and from the airport by renting a car or taking a taxi or airport limousine to Port Aransas. Several agencies are located adjacent to the baggage claim area of the airport. About a 40-minute ride from the airport to Port Aransas.
