Shifting winds and tides mean a change in beachcombing on the shores of MustangIsland.
Curious visitors and residents interested in learning more about what washes onto the beaches may join the free, guided beach walk held each month.
The City of Port Aransas Parks and Recreation Department offers the walks on the fourth Friday of each month. The walks should help satisfy beachcombers' curiosity about all the "stuff" that washes ashore along the beaches of Mustang Island.
While traditionally, winter is the best time to find "stuff" washed up on the bech, any time after a storm or heavy wave action will also produce goodies.
The walks start at 9 a.m. by the red flag next to Horace Caldwell Pier.
Rachael King, director of special programs for the Parks and Recreation Department, suggests wearing appropriate shoes, bringing a container in which to hold the treasures you find, "and getting ready for a morning of fun in the sun."
