      Don't forget: New fishing and hunting licenses are required each year by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. Annual hunting and fishing licenses (except for the yearto date fishing license) expire every Aug. 31. Licenses may be purchased at several locations in Port Aransas, including charter fishing agencies and the Family Center IGA.

Tournaments fill calendar
      Port Aransas is all about fishing, and during the summer anglers can find a tournament just about every weekend. The fishing competitions cater to adults, kids and women anglers. Tournaments range from longstanding local fundraising tournaments, to fundraisers for off-island causes and boat brand names.

Weekly tennis pick-up matches are open to all
      If tennis is your game, you can enjoy it while visiting Port Aransas - for free. Visitors are always welcome to join an informal group of adult tennis players at the Port Aransas High School tennis courts on Station Street. A racket, some balls and the ability to keep the ball in play are the only requirements.

Palmer course offers world class, seaside golf
      Arnold Palmer's name is legendary in the game of golf. And now Port Aransas has laid claim to a piece of that legend. The town's first-ever 18-hole golf course, the Newport Dunes Golf Club, is an Arnold Palmer Signature course, which means Palmer kept an eye on the project throughout design and construction.
