Join other curious visitors and residents interested in learning more about what washes onto the beaches of Mustang Island at the free, monthly, guided beach walks.

The City of Port Aransas Parks and Recreation Department offers the walks on the fourth Friday of each month. Shirley Fisher, long-time island resident and beachcomber, leads the walks to help satisfy beachcombers' curiosity about all the "stuff" that washes ashore along the beaches of Mustang Island.

Walkers meet at 9 a.m. by the purple flag next to Horace Caldwell Pier, at the end of Beach Street.

Pam Greene, community program coordinator for the Parks and Recreation Department, suggests wearing appropriate shoes, bringing a container in which to hold the treasures you find, drinking water, sunscreen "and get ready for a morning of fun in the sun."

For more information, call Greene at 749-4158.
