Enjoy music on waterfront at Sunset Sounds concerts
Passing ships and sunsets are the backdrop to Sunset Sounds, a series of free outdoor concerts held in Roberts Point Park at the Patsy Jones Amphitheater overlooking the Corpus Christi Ship Channel. The concerts, sponsored by the Port Aransas Parks and Recreation Department, are held the second Friday of the month from April through October. Enjoy evenings of musical entertainment as the sun sets over the Corpus Christi Ship Channel at the free concert series, Sunset Sounds.
The concerts are held on the second Friday of the month (unless otherwise noted) from April through October. Concerts begin at 7 p.m. and continue until about 9 p.m. at the Patsy Jones Amphitheater in Roberts Point Park. Music lovers are invited to bring lawn chairs or something to sit on and a cooler with beverages and a picnic dinner.
The 2009 series opened with blues musician Dicky Neely, known for his Ain't Nothin' But the Blues concerts that are central to the annual Fall Back Festival.
He was followed by Alma and Luis, acoustical, in May. Filling the remainder of the season will be Vickie Cross, gospel/country, on June 12; Aloha Dave and the Tourists, oldies and surf music on July 10; Riverwalk Ramblers, old-time folk music on Aug. 14; Victims of Circumstance, rock, on Sept. 11; and Cody Angel and Friends, variety, on Oct. 9.
A converted ferryboat, now a charter fishing boat, cruises by Sunset Sounds as passengers fish to the music. |
