      Location Northern tip of Mustang Island 30 minutes from Corpus Christi; three hours south of San Antonio, three hours south of Houston and three-and-a-half hours from Austin. 45 minutes from Corpus Christi International Airport, 30 minutes from downtown Corpus Christi and shopping malls.

Getting Around
      BY WATER Ferryboats run 24 hours a day, seven days a week all year long crossing the Corpus Christi Ship Channel to and from Port Aransas and Harbor Island. Free. Jetty Boat transports fishermen and beachcombers to St. Joseph's Island from Fisherman's Wharf, $12 adults. $6 children under 12. 900 N. Tarpon St., 749-5448.

Tourist Bureau has the '411' visitors need
      The Chamber of Commerce Tourist Bureau is a one-stop shop full of information about Port Aransas. The bureau is located at 403 W. Cotter, about a block east of the ferry landing in the sunny yellow building trimmed in white. Office hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Port Aransas trolley
      T he Port Aransas trolley has a new look. In May, a red trolley vehicle replaced the two blue trolleys that had been serving Port Aransas. The blue ones had to be retired due to age. The B Trolley, as it is known, goes to most parts of the city - even to Horace Caldwell Pier on the beach.

Library is oasis of books, videos, more
      The Ellis Memorial Public Library is one of the gems of Port Aransas. The library has about 25,000 items in its collection including adult, junior and children's books, a paperbacks section, audiobooks on cassette and CD, VHS tapes and DVDs. The library also has more than 70 magazine subscriptions. Back issues of magazines are available for checkout.

Every Day In Port A
      FISHING Charters Deep Sea Headquarters, 416 W. Cotter, 749-5597. Three party boats with concessions are available for group fishing, private charters for one to six anglers. Mostly offshore fishing trips made, usually for eight hours. Shorter trips available if demand warrants them. Guides available for bay fishing charters.
