Tee time is island time
      We’ve got golf, and we’ve got it good. The first-ever 18-hole golf course in Port Aransas, the Newport Dunes Golf Club, opened in 2008. It is an Arnold Palmer Signature course, which means the pro golf legend kept an eye on the project throughout design and construction. The course is located south of Beach Access Road 1A along State Hwy. 361.

Waterfront park offers entertainment
      If it’s an important outdoor event in Port Aransas, there’s a good chance it will take place at Roberts Point Park. Many events, including awards, fishing tournament weigh-ins, picnics or festivities, are held at the park. Positioned alongside the Corpus Christi Ship Channel, it is one of the first sights to greet visitors arriving in Port Aransas by ferry.

Botanical gardens feature spectacular floral exhibits
      One of the Coastal Bend’s popular visitor destinations is the 180-acre South Texas Botanical Gardens and Nature Center. The center, at 8545 S. Staples St. in Corpus Christi, showcases nine floral exhibits and gardens, including the acclaimed Orchid House and Plumeria Garden. The Bromeliad Conservatory and Butterfly House were to open this fall.

Art center celebrates talent of island artists
      The Art Center for the Islands 323 N. Alister St., is the focus of the art community in Port Aransas. It features a gallery, gift shop, classes, workshops and sponsors art festivals and events throughout the year. It is a nonprofit organization, in its 14th year of serving Mustang and Padre islands.
