Aquarium offers visitors wildlife closeups
      Chomp! The Texas State Aquarium in Corpus Christi is planning to open a new exhibit, called Gator Lake, in early 2010. Gator Lake will feature an American alligator and freshwater turtles. No opening date has been set, but it is expected to take place between mid- February and mid-March, said Kristin Ralls, a spokeswoman for the aquarium.

Stay dry at Wetlands Education Center
Free walks open to public conducted twice a week
      The Wetlands Education Center is a $4.4 million environmental education project and a great place to simply take a walk. The center is a man-made salt marsh located between the University of Texas Marine Science Institute (UTMSI) Visitor Center and the Aransas Pass, on the northernmost tip of Mustang Island.
