Computer Center offers free access

The Computer Center offers free public access to computers, printers, scanners, software and more. The Computer Center offers free public access to computers, printers, scanners, software and more. The Port Aransas Computer Center at 430 N. Alister St. offers free public access to 26 computers. All are connected to the Internet and a black and white laser printer. Office 2003 Professional is installed on all machines. Two scanners are available.

Wireless service (WiFi) is available inside the building and outside in the parking lot.

The center is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays. The hours are subject to change according to the availability of volunteers. Each volunteer works one two-hour shift per week.

If you would like to volunteer at the computer center, stop in and fill out a short questionnaire.

The center allows visitors the ability to send e-mail, surf the net, play games, shop online, work with photos, print airline boarding passes, make reservations, write resumes, scan, print mailing labels, plan travel routes and more.

Individual computer instruction is available. Classes are scheduled according to user interest.

The non-profit 501(c)(3) organization is financed by donations. Your donation helps upgrade equipment and provide supplies and licenses for software. There is no paid staff.

The center’s recycling program

accepts printer ink cartridges, laser cartridges and old cell phones.
