Stay dry while viewing mysteries of the deep
      The Texas State Aquarium offers visitors close-up views of various types of wildlife, including, of course, marine life. Three of the aquarium’s most popular sea creatures are three Atlantic bottlenose dolphins that live in the Dolphin Bay exhibit, which covers more than 30,000 square feet and contains about 400,000 gallons of seawater.

Botanical gardens feature plants, more
      One of the Coastal Bend’s popular visitor destinations is the 180-acre South Texas Botanical Gardens and Nature Center. The center, at 8545 S. Staples St. in Corpus Christi, showcases nine floral exhibits and gardens, including the acclaimed Orchid House and Plumeria Garden. The Bromeliad Conservatory and Butterfly House opened last fall.

Wetlands Education Center open to public
      A salt marsh lies just off the Aransas Pass, adjacent to The University of Texas at Austin’s Marine Science Institute visitor center. It is one of the more ecologically productive habitats on the planet.
