     Location Northern tip of Mustang Island 30 minutes from Corpus Christi; three hours south of San Antonio, three hours south of Houston and three-and-a-half hours from Austin. 45 minutes from Corpus Christi International Airport, 30 minutes from downtown Corpus Christi and shopping malls.

      BY WATER Ferryboats run 24 hours a day, seven days a week all year long crossing the Corpus Christi Ship Channel to and from Port Aransas and Harbor Island. Free.

      If it’s an outdoor event and it’s in Port Aransas, chances are it takes place at Roberts Point Park, alongside the ship channel. The park is the site of many important events and plenty of good times in Port Aransas.

Trolley offers transport about town
      Port Aransas has a brand-new trolley and, with its fire engine-red paint job, it’s easy to spot. The 2009 International vehicle, which seats 29 people, hit the streets in January this year, replacing a bus that previously ran its route around town.

Ferries run continuously
      Practically speaking, the ferry system represents a key transportation mode in Port Aransas. From a not-so-practical perspective, riding the ferries is just plain fun. Motorists often are treated to views of dolphins surfacing and pelicans flying past as they travel on the six ferries that shuttle vehicles from Harbor Island across the Corpus Christi Ship Channel to Mustang Island.

      Port Aransas is a shipwatcher’s heaven. Almost any point along the Corpus Christi Ship Channel gives a perfect vantage point to observe the constant stream of ships sailing into or out of the Aransas Pass that links the Intracoastal Waterway to the Gulf of Mexico.
