Beach walks held monthly on fourth Friday morning N ew treasures are washed ashore onto the beacheswith each season. As currents change, so do the shells and flotsam and jetsam that wash ashore. Learn about them with other inquisitive beachcombers at free, monthly, guided beach walks. The City of Port Aransas Parks and Recreation Department offers the walks on the fourth Friday of each month. Shirley Fisher, long-time island resident and beachcomber, leads the walks to help satisfy beachcombers’ curiosity about all the “stuff” that washes ashore. Walkers meet at 9 a.m. by the purple flag next to Horace Caldwell Pier, at the end of Beach Street. Wear appropriate shoes, bring a container in which to hold the treasures you find, drinking water and sunscreen. For more information, call 749-4158. |
