If you’re in Port Aransas on the evening of July 4, be on the lookout for a big fireworks show.
The skies over Roberts Point Park will light up shortly after dark.
The show is sponsored each year by the City of Port Aransas and the Lighthouse Foundation. Charles Butt of HEB Food Stores donates the funds to the foundation for the show.
The fireworks will be ignited from the Corpus Christi Ship Channel side of Roberts Point Park. Spectators may view the display from the park but will be kept away from the ignition site.
The fireworks should be visible from just about anywhere in Port Aransas.
City officials remind the public that the law prohibits shooting personal fireworks within the city limits of Port Aransas. The fireworks ban includes the beach.
Setting off fireworks also is against the law in the City of Corpus Christi, the city limits of which abut the city limits of Port Aransas.
Law enforcement officers will be on patrol and will confiscate fireworks from violators. The fine is up to $500 plus court costs.
