Winter Texan activities to continue in new venues

A group of Winter Texans played cribbage at the Community Center last season. The Community Center was used a venue for the activities as the JELM building was destroyed by Hurricane Harvey. This season plans are underway to use other facilities in town so that the programs that many have come to enjoy can continue.

Are you visiting Port Aransas for an extended period and looking for activities to fill your time?

The JELM (Joint Effort Leisure Ministry) building was destroyed and the program that is sponsored by the Community Presbyterian Church will be “on hiatus” for the fall and the winter.

The City of Port Aransas Parks and Recreation Department will be stepping up to help fill the void that was left by the destruction that Hurricane Harvey left behind.

With no building to host the many activities that Winter Texans and others have come to look forward to and enjoy, other venues are being sought so that the programming can continue.

Watch future issues of the South Jetty for stories and a Winter Texan calendar for information about the program schedule and planned events.
